While the Pajarito Plateau and Eastern Jemez Mountains boast hundreds of miles of trails managed by six different jurisdictions, navigating the outdoor events and activities has historically been a challenge for residents and visitors alike. The new PTS website solves this by acting as a portal, connecting users to the diverse array of events and activities hosted in our outdoors by local organizations, land stewards, and businesses.

“Our trails are a vital community asset, but knowing what is happening has been fragmented across many websites and social media groups,” said Kevin Holsapple of PSLA. “The PTS website is designed to be a high-functioning utility that simplifies the outdoor experience.”

Key Features of the PTS Website:

  • The PTS Master Calendar: A unified view of area trail and outdoor events and activities categorized into four “vibes”: Adventure, Discovery, Stewardship, and On-the-Trails.
  • Direct-Links to Organizers: Quick links that take users directly to the organizers' websites for full event details and registration.
  • Trails & Outdoors Newsroom: A focused news source for trail-related stories and updates from across the plateau.
  • Crowdsourced Events and News: A public submission tool allowing local organizations to submit their own events and stories.
  • Map Links: Fast access to official trail maps from all six trail system managers in our area.

The launch of the website is a primary component of the broader PSLA Pajarito Trails Initiative, a coalition-based model aimed at promoting a collective identity for the area's outdoor experience, increasing public appreciation of our fantastic outdoor setting, and fostering stewardship of our outdoor assets. By providing organized, umbrella information, the initiative seeks to improve access for residents and outdoor-focused visitors.

The community is invited to explore the new utility at pajaritotrails.us. Local organizations with upcoming trail or outdoor events or activities that aren’t already on the calendar are encouraged to use the "Submit" feature to ensure their activities are included.
