Atomic City Road Runners Opened their 52nd season last night with a run/walk event on Los Alamos Canyon Rim Trail. More than 40 participants turned out for the 2026 season's first pace event. ACRR meets every Tuesday evening from now through October. Typically, 1, 2, & 3 mile courses are offered for both runners and walkers. Everyone is welcome. Last night, the course was graced by a beautiful rainbow!
ROJAS IS THE TOP PREDICTOR IN THE FIRST PACE RACE OF THE SEASON
Aurea Rojas was the best predictor in the first pace race opening the 52nd season held on the Canyon Rim Trail. She was 4 seconds off her predicted time. Other accurate predictors were: Felix Candia recording a 6 second difference; 4 year old Robin Bujack at 8 seconds off; Edith Acosta coming in at 27 seconds off; and tied at 29 seconds was Roxana Bujack who also was the first finisher in the 2 mile distance at 22:03 and Lynn Bjorklund the best 3 mile female finisher with a time of 24:16.
On the 1 mile course 7 year old Ivana Velechovsky was the top finisher coming in at 10:33. The first male was Steve Daly at 11:40.
In the 2 mile distance the best male was Ting Dang recording a 26:21.
Paul Geimer was the top performer on the 3 mile course with a time of 18:50.
Next week’s race will be held on Tuesday, April 14th, 2026 at 6:00 PM and will start on the road to the pollution control plant in Bayo Canyon which is located towards the bottom of Main Hill Road (State Route # 502) by taking a left just before the junction of State Route # 4 to White Rock. 1, 2, and 3 mile courses will be available.
