The Pajarito Trails Series (PTS) is built on a "coalition" model. We recognize that no single organization owns the outdoor or trail experience on the Pajarito Plateau and in the eastern Jemez Mountains; instead, it is a shared masterpiece maintained and enjoyed by a diverse mosaic of stakeholders.
Our stakeholders are the heartbeat of this initiative, falling into several primary categories. We try to provide some glue and greater connectivity with the goal of a more seamless outdoor culture and identity.
1. Land Managers & Stewards -- These are the agencies and organizations that care for the dirt beneath our feet. Our initiative focuses on six interconnecting systems:
- Govermental Trail Systems: Bandelier National Monument, Valles Caldera National Preserve, the Santa Fe National Forest, Department of Energy/Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos County.
- Private Trail System: Pajarito Ski Mountain.
2. Event & Activity Organizers/Hosts -- The "Series" is a collection of experiences delivered by many local experts. These organizations lead the hikes, organize the races and other activities, and teach the workshops that bring our trails and outdoor activities to life:
- Atomic City Road Runners (ACRR)
- Bandelier National Monument
- Double Eagle Hike/Bike Club
- Jemez Mountain Trail Runs (High Altitude Athletics Club)
- LANL Trails Management
- Los Alamos County Trails Open Space and Trails
- Los Alamos County Recreation Division
- Los Alamos Family YMCA (YCC)
- Los Alamos Mountaineers (LAM)
- Los Alamos Ski Club
- Los Amigos de Valles Caldera
- New Mexico Interscholastic Cycling League (NMCL)
- Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC)
- Pajarito Ski Mountain
- Santa Fe National Forest
- SW Nordic Ski Club
- Tuff Riders Mountain Bike Club
- Valles Caldera National Preserve
